YOD

73 Your hands have made me and fashioned me;

Give me understanding, that I may learn Your commandments.

74 Those who fear You will be glad when they see me,

Because I have hoped in Your word.

75 I know, O LORD, that Your judgments are right,

And that in faithfulness You have afflicted me.

76 Let, I pray, Your merciful kindness be for my comfort,

According to Your word to Your servant.

77 Let Your tender mercies come to me, that I may live;

For Your law is my delight.

78 Let the proud be ashamed,

For they treated me wrongfully with falsehood;

But I will meditate on Your precepts.

79 Let those who fear You turn to me,

Those who know Your testimonies.

80 Let my heart be blameless regarding Your statutes,

That I may not be ashamed.

The key thought of this passage is the idea that we are created: Your hands have made me and fashioned me … (v.73). We have a purpose and plan for our life.  What a blessing to know there is a reason to why we are here and what we are supposed to be doing!

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11

How many people go through life struggling with the idea of: why am I here? We search, ponder, and wonder why? The Bible makes it clear though on why we are here.  God created us and His word gives us the reason of our existence. (v.73)

So in tough times when my mind wants to wander to why am I here and what I am supposed to be doing….

I am reminded that God is my hope (v.74), He is truth (v.75), my comfort (v.76), and my mercy (v.77).  In a dark and troubling world, aren’t you glad that you have a purpose, hope, truth, comfort and mercy from a loving Creator?

What should we do with this wonderful news?

Psalm 119:79 gives us the answer: Let those who fear You turn to me… Let this dying world turn to us for the answers as we point them back to our loving Creator who gives us a reason for living!
