SAMEK

113 I hate the double-minded,

But I love Your law.

114 You are my hiding place and my shield;

I hope in Your word.

115 Depart from me, you evildoers,

For I will keep the commandments of my God!

116 Uphold me according to Your word, that I may live;

And do not let me be ashamed of my hope.

117 Hold me up, and I shall be safe,

And I shall observe Your statutes continually.

118 You reject all those who stray from Your statutes,

For their deceit is falsehood.

119 You put away all the wicked of the earth like dross;

Therefore I love Your testimonies.

120 My flesh trembles for fear of You,

And I am afraid of Your judgments.

That phrase – double-minded – really sticks out to me.  It carries the idea of being divided – one half of you is focused on the things of the Lord while the other half of you is focused on the things of the world.

It reminds me of that phrase we have been saying at church lately: being a part-time Christian but wanting full-time benefits.  It doesn’t work that way.  We can’t put in a half-hearted effort into our walk with the Lord and expect a blessing as a result.

What should we do?

v.113 – love His law

v.114 – hope in His word

v.115 – keep His commandments

v. 119 – love His testimonies

I like how v.117 says it:

Hold me up, and I shall be safe,

And I shall observe Your statutes continually.

How do I do that? How do I continually seek Him? By seeking Him with your whole-heart….

Remember our earlier verses:

With my whole heart I have sought You…. Psalm 119:10

I shall observe it with my whole heart… Psalm 119:34

I entreated Your favor with my whole heart… Psalm 119:58

I will keep Your precepts with my whole heart… Psalm 119:69

Ask yourself this, does the Lord have your whole heart? If not, today is the day to give it ALL over to Him.
